Information for Businesses & Employers

Congratulations on your commitment to helping your employees and patrons by supporting breastfeeding. Here we have provided you information to develop breastfeeding policies and ways to become breastfeeding-friendly.

Become Breastfeeding Friendly!

Breastfeding is normal - babies are born to do it!The South Sound Breastfeeding Network (SSBN) is showcasing businesses and public locations on our website that are breastfeeding friendly. "Breastfeeding Friendly" means the business encourages and supports breastfeeding for all patrons and employees.

The SSBN Breastfeeding Welcome Here program is strictly voluntary and a way to help support and encourage breastfeeding in our community.

If you are interested in becoming Breastfeeding Friendly and listed in our website showcase please review our Breastfeeding Welcome Here campaign and contact us.

Suggestions for becoming Breastfeeding Friendly:

  • Have a written policy supporting breastfeeding and train all employees in how to treat a breastfeeding mom.
  • Provide a private comfortable place for mothers to breastfeed or pump.
  • Support Breastfeeding employees by providing time and place to pump and store breast milk.
  • Display the International Breastfeeding Symbol (window sticker available free from the SSBN)
  • Consider sponsoring a local celebration of World Breastfeeding Week. (Visit www.worldbreastfeedingweek.org for information.)
  • Read and follow the guidelines for the Breastfeeding Welcome Here campaign

Thank you for your interest in supporting breastfeeding and helping to make our community breastfeeding friendly.
