are many ways for anyone to support and encourage breastfeeding.
Below are a list of organizations and campaigns that advocate breastfeeding.
The more people who advocate and support these efforts, the greater
breastfeeding will be accepted and done everywhere.

Coalition of Washington
A statewide coalition comprised of ~22 local coalitions working
together to promote, protect and support breastfeeding as a vital
part of the health and development of children and families. With
a focus on Washington State, they hope to keep you informed about
breastfeeding promotion, legislation, research, conferences and
more.

Leche League International
International
organization providing information and support to breastfeeding
mothers.
World
Alliance for Breastfeeding Action
WABA is a global network of individuals & organizations concerned
with the protection, promotion & support of breastfeeding worldwide.
World
Health Organization (WHO)
WHO is the directing
and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations
system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health
matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards,
articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical
support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
Campaigns
Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI)
Baby-Friendly USA envisions an American culture that values
the enduring benefits of breastfeeding and human milk for mothers,
babies, and society and works to implement the UNICEF/WHO Baby Friendly
Hospital Initiative in the US.

South Sound Breastfeeding
Network's campaign to utilize the International Breastfeeding Symbol
and help our local community become more breastfeeding friendly.

Breastfeeding Symbol
Mothering
Magazine's new symbol to be used in public world wide to increase
public awareness of breastfeeding, to designate breastfeeding and
family friendly facilities in public and to provide an alternative
to the use of the image of a baby bottle.
National
Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign
"Babies were Born to be Breastfed" is national campaign
launched by the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office
on Women's Health in 2005.
ProMom
3 Minute Activist
For those who want to support breastfeeding, but
only have a little time, ProMom's 3 Minute Activist utilizes email
for breastfeeding causes. It includes opportunities to praise or
criticize the media for its portrayals of breastfeeding using prepared
letters that are submitted by those in the ProMom community.
World
Breastfeeding Week
The
World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is the greatest outreach vehicle
for the breastfeeding movement celebrated in over 120 countries.
Officially it is celebrated from 1–7 August. However, groups may
choose other dates to make it a more successful event in their countries.
